THE UNIFYING FACTOR IN SPORTS

There is a strong sense of divisiveness hovering over our country. We seem to be more separate than united. Maybe we are the Divided States of America. Trumpism has permeated our nervous systems to the extent that we can no longer know what is convenient and what is constitutional. The new norm is unacceptance, lying and a general overall lack of human integrity and decency.

But there is one fact of society that can bring us all together and back to our moral compass if we use it properly and that is the world of athletics. SPorts connects athletes of all faiths, religions and philosophies: Christians, Muslims,Hindus, Jews, Buddhists, Taoists, Agnostics, Atheists and more. Once we get on the playing field, all differences are neutralized. It becomes a special sacred "church" that helps us to gain greater understanding of the role of sports in the bigger game of life,

I have worked with thousands of athletes, coaches, teams over a 40 year career who share the core values we all crave in daily life. Sports gives us the opportunity to experience "godlike" qualities like courage, compassion, fearlessness, perseverance, trust, respect, integrity, sacrifice and love to name a few. All of my clients seek to nourish their souls through physical activity.

This connection to the spirit through athletics is not a new concept... many ancient books such as the Torah, Koran, Bible, teach that the care of the body is indeed the care of the soul. I find that there is a universal craving for this intimate relationship that transports us beyond scores, laps, miles, points, wins, championships. Legions seem to be in search of a richer, practical spiritual experience, perhaps a closer relationship with each other, with ourselves, with a higher power. in all arenas of life.

During these precarious times of uncertainty, sports is there for us to observe, participate in and talk about in order to experience a more meaningful, soulful connection with something bigger and greater than ourselves. With weapons of the heart...courage, kindness, love, sharing, caring, giving, compassion... we can begin to combat the craziness of this presidency by practicing these sacred values in sports which can drive "winning" each day of your life. This is the true essence of what I call the SPIRIT OF THE DANCING WARRIOR, using athletics as a spiritual journey to compete against the "spiritual void" in the White House and be victorious against these harsh forces.
